BPSC or Bihar Public Service Commission
is one of the many prestigious state level civil service examinations, in which many posts like Sub Divisional Officer, Rural Development Officer, District Sainapar Officer, etc. are admitted. The board has finally released the exam date sheet for BPSC 2010. exam. Due to coronavirus the exam date is extended.Let's look at the BPSC syllabus. The BPSC syllabus has been prescribed by the Bihar Public Service Commission. The BPSC prelims and mains syllabus are determined by the Bihar Public Service Commission. The Commission is constitutionally involved to assist the Bihar State Government in matters of recruitment, transfer, and disciplinary matters of public service in the state.
BPSC Syllabus: BPSC Exam Pattern
Like other State Services Commission and UPSC, BPSC also conducts joint competitive BPSC examination in three phases. Candidates can check the steps given below.- Prelims: An objective type paper for 150 marks.
- Mains: Four Descriptive Papers
- Interview: 120 marks

Candidates will have to clear each stage to be eligible for the next stage, if the candidates clear the preliminary exam, they can give it to the main, clarifying that they should be interviewed for the final stage i.e. BPSC exam will be called.
BPSC Syllabus: BPSC Prelims Exam Pattern
The Prelims is that the qualifying in nature, it's basically wont to sort the non-serious candidates. Those who qualify the Prelims exam are called for BPSC Mains. The marks in Prelims won't be taken into consideration for the ultimate merit list.

Important point:
- Paper marks should be considered for the qualified candidate for the main examination.
- There is negative marking for all incorrect answers in prelims.
- There will be no negative marking for unanswered questions.
- 1/3 of the marks allotted to the question is negative marking.
- BPSC prelims are screening in nature.
- In order to qualify for the main examination, candidates are required to obtain the minimum marks prescribed by the Commission.
- All the questions are set in English and Hindi except those questions which are meant to test the knowledge of the candidate of English.
BPSC Prelims Syllabus:
The syllabus for BPSC Preliminary Examination is similar to the previous examinations of BPSC. It covers aspects of general science, politics, economy, history, and national movement. The candidates have to go through the syllabus and prepare themselves well as the exam will have good standard questions. Here is the detailed syllabus of BPSC Preliminary Examination:- General Science (a general understanding of science, including everyday observation and experience matters). Science and Tech questions will be such that they will not require subject specialization.
- Current Affairs of National / International Importance
- History of India and Bihar (a general understanding of the subject along with broad aspects of the history of Bihar).
- Geography of India and Bihar (Questions will be related to the physical, social, and economic geography of the country including the main features of Indian agriculture and natural agriculture).
- Major river systems of Bihar, its general geography and geographical division.
- Indian polity (questions will test knowledge on the political system of the country, Panchayati Raj, community development, and planning in India and Bihar).
- Indian economy and Bihar's economy after independence.
- The Indian movement and Bihar's contribution to it (the question will be related to the nature and character of the19th revival, the development of nationality, and the attainment of independence with special reference to Bihar).
- Under Indian Economy and Politics, the questions will cover the following topics:
- Indian political system
- Panchayati Raj
- community Development
- The Planning in India and Bihar
- Under the Indian National Movement, candidates have to focus on the revival in the 19th century, the nature and development of nationalism in India, and the independence of India. Also, Bihar's role in the Indian national movement is important from the BPSC exam point of view.
- Questions based on General Mental Ability
BPSC Mains exam pattern:
Candidates are called for the BPSC Main Examination only when they pass the BPSC Preliminary Examination and secure the required cut-off marks fixed by the Commission.
Since the BPSC Prelims exam passes in nature, it does not matter what a score is. A qualifying paper in BPSC Main Exam is General Hindi. In addition,
General Studies Paper 1 and General Studies Paper 2 will carry 300 marks. There will be an optional paper that the candidate has chosen earlier while filling the appliance form.
The optional paper consists of 300 marks. A list of 34 optional subjects is given below.

Important point:
- Candidates will have to pass in General Hindi to check their General Awareness Sheet by the Commission.
- General study questions are available in both Hindi and English.
- The score will come after considering a total of 900 marks in GS paper 1, GS paper 2, and optional paper.
- Candidates who are suitably placed in the qualification are called for an interview.
- There is no negative marking in descriptive question papers.
- Candidates are required to attempt all papers to qualify for the round of interviews.
- This round is both scoring and qualifying in nature.
BPSC Mains Syllabus:
Qualifying Paper: General Hindi
General Hindi paper will pass in nature. The syllabus for the qualifying paper is of Bihar School Education Board (BSEB) level. The paper will be 100 points in nature and subjective, And the distribution of digits is as follows:
- Essay: 30 marks
- Grammar: 30 marks
- Syntax: 25 marks
- Summary: 15 points
Out of 100 marks, the candidates are required to secure the qualifying marks in the paper. For this qualifying paper, a good book of school standard is sufficient.
General Studies Paper 1:
Till now, each paper appearing to the candidates is of qualifying nature. The BPSC Prelims Exam and General Hindi paper only pass in nature. These paper marks are not included in the merit list.
The actual BPSC exam now begins with general studies papers and optional papers. There are two papers for general studies and two for optional.
Each paper carries 300 marks and the total marks from all these papers is 900.

- Indian Economy and Geography of India (Question on Planning in Physical, Economic and Social Geography of India and Bihar)
- Role and impact of science and technology within the development of India (Questions to check the awareness of the role and impact of science and technology in India and Bihar).
Optional subject:
In BPSC Mains, candidates have to select one elective from 34 subjects. There will be only one optional subject examination for 300 marks and the questions will be of honors-level (3-year course in Patna University). Bpsc Interview Exam:
Candidates who passed the BPSC Mains exam will be called for the 'Interview' round. The candidates are interviewed by the Board appointed by the Commission. The main areas given below were examined by the interviewer.
The candidate will be interviewed by a board, which will have a record of the candidate's career and interests filled by the candidate in the application form.
The purpose of the interview is to examine a candidate's personal suitability for a career in state services by a board of competent and impartial supervisors.
In personality tests, apart from their academic studies, candidates should be aware of cases occurring both within and outside their state.
The interview is more of a conversation aimed at ascertaining the mental qualities and analytical ability of the candidate.
